Rivers IPMAN Asserts Adequate Fuel Supply in Private Depots Amid Scarcity

“IPMAN Assures Adequate Fuel Supply in Rivers State Amid Scarcity Concerns”

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Rivers State has allayed fears of fuel scarcity in Port Harcourt and its environs. While queues have reappeared in major cities like Lagos and Abuja, IPMAN’s exclusive interview with Channels Television reveals that there is sufficient fuel stock in Rivers State, mitigating the likelihood of queues returning to local filling stations.

Agbakwuo Uzochukwu, the IPMAN Rivers State Public Relations Officer, attributes the scarcity and price fluctuations observed in other parts of the country to the closure of government-regulated depots, restricting access for independent petroleum marketers. These marketers are now relying on private depots, where prices remain subject to fluctuations.

Uzochukwu emphasizes that while Rivers State’s fuel prices may not match those in other states currently, dependency on the state could impact prices if the product supply diminishes. For now, however, there is an ample supply of petroleum products in Rivers State.

Channels Television’s recent visit to Port Harcourt’s filling stations revealed no scarcity of fuel. However, a slight increase in pump prices was observed. The new price range for the commodity is between N690 and N700 per liter, compared to last week’s N650-N690.

IPMAN cautions that further price fluctuations may occur due to reliance on private depots.
